BC Randonneurs Awards
John Hathaway Trophy (Iron Butt Award)
Awarded annually to the BC resident who rides the most distance in ACP-sanctioned brevets and flèches worldwide. (Non-residents are eligible if they complete a full brevet series in BC.)
40,000 km & 100,000 km lifetime distance awards
The 40,000 pin is awarded to a BC randonneur whose life-time event distance (brevet/fleches, ridden anywhere in the world) reaches 40,000 km — equivalent to the circumference of the earth.
The “Golden Saddle” trophy is awarded at 100,000 km.
BC-12 Award
There are two ways to qualify for a BC-12 Award:
- A rider must complete a permanent or ACP-sanctioned brevet (or flèche/trace) in each of 12 consecutive months. The starting point can be in any month.
- A rider must complete 12 rides in a calendar year (January 1 – December 31). At least 8 of these must be permanents. This means that up to four rides can be ACP-sanctioned brevets (or flèche/trace). The permanents can be ridden any time during the year. i.e. not tied to a month.
Rambling Randonneur Award
Presented to riders who complete a sanctioned brevet in four different BC regions (excludes flèches, traces, and permanents). There is no time limit.
Roger Street Award
The Roger Street Award is given annually to a club member who has made an outstanding contribution to the club. Although the club recognizes and appreciates cumulative efforts made over many years, this award focuses on current contributions and primarily those in the year for which it is awarded.
The award is named after Roger Street who joined BC Randonneurs in 1993, served as club Treasurer from 1998 to 2001 and was a regular volunteer that could be counted on for support whenever and wherever needed. On February 25th, 2003 Roger died suddenly of a heart attack while cycling. He was much beloved and is deeply missed by all who knew him.
